At the start of the pandemic, while many of us were making sourdough bread or filming TikToks with our kids, Denise Moore was launching a new career.

While working full-time as a special education teacher, Moore became a Realtor with Kazantzis Real Estate and was able to close on 10 properties in her first few months. Her knack for real estate is in her blood. Her mother, Connie Moore, was a real estate broker in eastern Connecticut and achieved Realtor of the Year by the Northeast Board of Realtors in 1985.

Moore recently explained what attracted her to real estate and how her background in education actually helps her now.

How does your past experience translate into the Real Estate market?

I am a certified teacher with a master's degree in special education.  My teaching experience gives me the qualities of time management, being flexible, skills of multi-tasking, attention to detail, problem-solving, teamwork, and dedication.

What sets you apart from other Realtors?

I started in the real estate profession after having a great home buying experience. I wanted to provide that positive experience to my clients.

Having just gone through the process myself a little over two years ago I know what new home buyers are going through, I understand what a government loan entails and the process. I know that it can be overwhelming at times and I do my best to explain each step and guide them through the journey.

What do you love most about being a Realtor?

My goal is to not just find the right house for my client but to find their "home." I love seeing "the look" when a buyer knows that they've found the house for them. It's even better when both of my buyers have "the look" for the same house!

What words of wisdom do you share most with prospective home buyers or sellers?

To not get frustrated.  Especially in the market we are in right now, it's important to be patient and to trust the process.  The right home is there waiting, if your offer doesn't get accepted then that wasn't your home.

What does the word "home" mean to you?

Home is where you make your memories, where you feel safe and at ease. Home should be your happy place!
