When you're buying or selling a home, it can be a roller coaster. Especially when unforeseen legal problems, like title issues, arise.

However, Kazantzis Real Estate Broker Associate Keri Roy recently explained how her background at a real estate law firm allows her to see potential roadblocks and pitfalls before they derail a transaction.

How does your past experience translate into the Real Estate market?

I have been a part of the real estate industry for close to 19 years and have seen markets both in the highs and the lows. Having worked through the last market bubble (2005-2008), I am able to have honest conversations with my clients and to share my thoughts and opinions on market trends.

What sets you apart from other Realtors?

My career background is one of the biggest things that sets me apart in the field. Most don't realize I got a job when I was 19 in a real estate law firm and worked there doing title work and working on files to get them ready for the closing table right up until I became an agent. That included clearing title issues, preparing closing packages, and preparing the closing statements. My experience in the firm prepared me to be a better agent as I know what I need to do for a smooth transaction for my clients and the closing attorneys seem to appreciate my knowledge as well! My clients come first and my phone is always on!

What do you love most about being a Realtor?

I truly enjoy helping people, I always have. I love listening to the needs of my clients and being a part of such a big life journey with them. Every day is different, every deal is different, every story is different. There is definitely no time to become bored!

What words of wisdom do you share most with prospective home buyers or sellers?

For both buyers and sellers, I tell them it's very important that you hire someone you are comfortable with, even if that ends up not being me. The client/agent relationship can last for a long time and you want to make sure you are working with someone you can talk to, be open with, and trust. I always assure my buyers that when it's the right home - "the one" - they will know it. When something is meant to happen, it does. Everything happens for a reason.

What does the word "home" mean to you?

Home to me means comfort, safe, positive, and judgment-free.  It's a place that you should feel happy to return to. Your sanctuary. For me, I love the privacy and tranquility of my backyard. I love coming home to my dogs greeting me at the door. I love that my husband and I have created a home where our family and friends know they are always welcome.
