When we were first asked to stay at home, the weather was nice so we could go for walk or sit outside. However, now the second wave has hit and the weather isn't exactly cooperating - especially this week in New England. So, how do you keep cabin fever at bay?
"Traditional indoor boredom busters - like going to the movies, the gym, or even bowling - aren't necessarily options right now," said Kazantzis Real Estate Owner and Broker Andrea Kazantzis. "This winter, we all have to find ways to keep busy in our homes, so we figured we'd share some ideas."
At Home Replacements
There are ways to bring some of your favorite activities back home.
You may not be able to go to the bowling alley, but you could set up your own game in your house. Take some empty bottles or even some plastic cups, grab a ball, and start rolling!
Many movie theaters aren't open right now - but it doesn't mean you can't make movie night special. Pop a big bowl of popcorn, buy your favorite candy and snuggle in. Make it a marathon and watch the Lord of the Rings or Star Wars trilogies. You can even stretch it over the course of weeks by watching all of the Harry Potter movies or all of the films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The Power of a Good Book
If you can't go anywhere, why not let a good book transport you to far off lands. Not only will it let you bide the time, but it will also take your mind off of current events for a little bit. If you're seeking personal interaction, why not start a Zoom book club.
Learn a Craft
With YouTube, you can learn how to do almost anything. So whether you love to paint, or have always wanted to learn how to knit or crochet - a craft is a great way to decompress.
Puzzle Me This
Puzzles are a great way to pass some hours or - if it's really difficult - days. It's something you can do by yourself or it can be a project for the entire family. If space (or pets) make it hard to do a traditional puzzle - pick up a crossword puzzle or sudoku book at the store. Benefit - It'll help keep your brain sharp.
Declutter Your Space
While you're stuck at home, you may as well get a jump start on your spring cleaning. Tackle one closet at a time and sell or donate what you don't want. You'll be amazed how simplifying your surroundings can really lighten your mood.

Walk Down Memory Lane
Take out those old family pictures and yearbooks, and reminisce about days gone by. If you have kids, it's a great chance to give them a glimpse into your childhood. If you live by yourself - set up a zoom with your family or friends from school - and have a virtual reunion.
Game Night
This may seem obvious, but in a high-tech world, it's easy to forget how fun a board game can be. If you're sick of playing the ones you already have, consider holding a game swap with some of your friends.
Whatever you decide to do, remind yourself that winter is only a few months. Enjoy the chance to slow down a bit, regroup, and spend time with those you love most.
